Producing renewable energy

Reduction of CO2 emissions

Electricity generated from traditional energy sources (natural gas, fossil fuel, coal, waste,...) causes high CO2 emissions. That is not the case with renewable energy sources. Power generated by solar, wind or hydro energy reduces your CO2 emissions to an absolute minimum. Energy-saving projects take this even one step further.

The goal

To avoid unnecessary energy consumption as much as possible.

How do we go about this?

By replacing obsolete equipment (lighting or heating) with new and more efficient technologies. Because the less energy you consume, the less CO2 you emit and the lower your energy bill.

Orka = Icelandic for energy

Orka finances, builds, operates and maintains renewable energy projects and energy efficiency projects. Our target group? Companies and government organisations.

Since its establishment in 2008, Orka has carried out more than 30 solar energy projects in Flanders and Brussels as a third part financier. This makes it one of the major players in Belgium. Orka also recently launched its first ESCO (Energy Saving COntracts) project.

Orka renewable energy projects

Orka has already carried out dozens of large PV projects. Representing a total roof area of over 650,000 m2 and more than 140,000 solar panels.
The combined power output of all these installations? 34.3 megawatts. This is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 9,000 families. Comparable to Belgian cities such as Eeklo or Diest. The result? A total CO2 reduction of 15,000 tons per year.

Orka energy saving projects

Orka collaborates with SITA on a relighting project for various SITA locations in Belgium. How does this collaboration work? Orka invests in energy efficient lighting solutions that are used by SITA. The combined estimated capacity of this new lighting equipment is 450 kW. How much does SITA save thanks to this project? 50% on its energy bill for lighting.
